How do I remove scratches from a windshield ?
Scratches on a windshield can occur quite often. It is part of normal wear and tear. There are several possible causes: either the wiper blades are worn or bent, or a layer of dust has been swept off with the wipers, or an object, such as luggage, has been placed on the windshield. In any case, it is important to try to remove the scratches to ensure good visibility for the driver. If they are not deep, you can use the following trick yourself:
Take some Whiting powder and put it on the scratches on the windshield. It is a very fine white powder made from calcium carbonate, chalk and clay. Then rub it in a circular motion. Moisten a newspaper with white spirit and gently clean the windshield. Finally, rinse it well.
How to maintain your windshield on a daily basis ?
"Because it is a fundamental element of your visibility on the road, and because glass remains a soft material, maintain your car's windshield regularly. There are a number of tools and products available for self-care.
Start by checking that the washer fluid level is sufficient. It will be your best ally during the journey to rid the windshield of any splashes from other vehicles, dust in the air, or crushed insects. Never use the wipers dry. If necessary, add a little water with a few drops of washing-up liquid before driving.
For winter maintenance, check the condition of the wiper blades, which will be put to the test, as well as a glass scraper.
Finally, wipe the inside of the windshield with a microfibre cloth to remove the layer of grease caused by traffic pollution. Then use white vinegar diluted in water or baking soda to clean the outside of your windshield. "
How to repair a deep scratch on a windshield ?
